Today, Heart of a Champion proudly recognizes Nova Scotia’s Laurie Breen, as this weeks ‘Saturday Salute’ recipient! A lifelong motorsports enthusiast, Laurie actively supported the local stock car and classic car scenes since the 1970’s. From driving his street stock at Riverside International Speedway to taking on crew chief duties for both his sons, Corey & Jeffrey, Laurie was a familiar figure at the track; one of the true unsung hero’s of Maritime stock car racing. Laurie’s love of motorsports was second only to his love of family. He and his wife could be seen regularly enjoying Sunday drives with their much-cherished 1967 Chevelle SS, around the countryside. Laurie was very proud of his family and supported all their interests, including the many nights and weekends spent in the race shop and at the track helping his boys take home another checkered flag! Laurie passed away this week and will be sadly missed. We can take comfort in knowing his memory will live on throughout the Maritime motorsports community and in the legacy he has left behind.Laurie, you lived and raced with the Heart of a Champion.
