Today, Heart of a Champions ‘Saturday Salute’ is Prince Edward Island’s, Raymond Birt! Ray was involved in motorsports for over 40 years! 🙂 From the early ’60s, Ray was not only a tough competitor but also a passionate promoter of racing on the Island. Ray was a pioneer in building go-kart racing in the early ’60s which evolved into his move to stock cars, both on dirt and pavement! ‘Flamin Raymond’, as he was known around the track, was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who asked. 🙂 Ray even tried his hand at drag racing, where he ran at tracks in PEI, NS, and NB. Ray was inducted to the Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2008. 🙂 Ray, thank you for all the years of dedication and support to Maritime motorsports! You have the Heart of a Champion!
