Today, Heart of a Champion proudly salutes Prince Edward Island’s Donald ‘Duckie’ Wooldridge as this week’s ‘Saturday Salute’! ????
Duckie started racing at the age of 14 years old and has been involved in Maritime motorsports for over 5 decades!
Duckie’s passion for motorsports runs deep as he’s been an active participant with stock cars, drag’s, and street rod’s! ????
He was the 1966 Most Sportsmanlike Driver at Covehead Raceway, he finished 1st place in the Flathead Points Series at Montague Raceway in 1967 and the 1967 Driver of the Year at Covehead Raceway. ????
Duckie built and restored a 1923 Ford Model T bucket and a 1931 Ford Model A! He also built the first car show ‘turntable’ in 1977, that he used to show off his Ford’s at Maritime car shows!
Duckie has been an integral part of the Prince Edward Island Street Rod Association from its inception and inducted into the Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2012. ????
Duckie was even involved with the ‘Hell Drivers’ when they visited PEI!
For the last 20+ years, Duckie’s enjoyed drag racing in the southern states and has represented the Maritime’s well!
His motto is simple: ‘Win, crash or blow is the only way to go’! ????
