Today’s, Heart of a Champion ‘Saturday Salute’ is Prince Edward Island’s Earl Ross! Earl is the ONLY Canadian and Maritimer to win a Monster Energy Cup race (Formally Winston Cup). It happened in 1974 at Martinsville Speedway, finishing a full lap ahead of Buddy Baker! Earl started racing in the late 60s and quickly rose through the ranks, racking up dozens of feature wins at many different tracks! Earl has won big events all across the country, including the Riverglade International in 1977! Earl also won the Monster Energy Rookie of the Year in 1974! Earl Ross paved the way for countless Canadian and Maritime racers to not only compete against the best down south and abroad but to grab the checkered flag as well! A proud legacy for the Ross family. 🙂 Earl Ross, we salute you for racing with the Heart of a Champion. 🙂 Photo’s: Lawrence family archive.
