Today, Heart of a Champions ‘Saturday Salute’ is Nova Scotia racing pioneer, Bill Cummins! 🙂 Born in Barrington, Nova Scotia, Bill’s love of motorsports and ‘all things on 4 wheels’ began at an early age! During his teen years, he shared his passion with other notable Nova Scotia motorsports pioneers, the Christie brothers! Whether at Maitland Dragway or any number of short tracks in Nova Scotia, you would find Bill and the Christie’s there! Bill’s desire and ability to go fast was equaled with his mechanical aptitude, which helped bring innovation and safety to stock car racing in the ’60s. Throughout his 50 year career in the trucking business, Bill enjoyed his street rods and staying actively involved in racing which led him to vintage racing into his 70’s! Bill was a true family man, motorsports ambassador, mentor, and friend to all. Bill, you lived and loved with the Heart of a Champion. God bless dear friend. 🙂 Photos: Cummins Family Archive.
