Today, Heart of a Champion’s ‘Saturday Salute’ is popular Scotsburn, Nova Scotia car owner from the 70s, Peter Sutherland! Peter’s passion for racing ran deep. After sponsoring local hot-shoe Terry Clattenburg’s Dodge City #2 in the early 70s, Peter sought out to build his own team with a group of friends: Robert Langille, Wayne Murray, Greg MacDonald and Maritime racing legend Rollie MacDonald behind the wheel! Peter LOVED his Dodge product and the car of choice was an original Petty Kit car, which they brought back from Petty’s shop in NC! Peter’s iconic Dodge won dozens of races in the Maritime’s with Rollie behind the wheel! Peter was the owner/operator of Peter Sutherland Transport which adorned the iconic Petty paint scheme. 🙂 Special thanks to David & Ken Sutherland for recently allowing HOAC to roam the old race shop and property, in Scotsburn NS, looking for memorabilia! We look forward to sharing our ‘finds’ with the racing community at events in 2020, some of which are pictured below. 🙂 Peter, you are sorrowfully missed but your contributions to Maritime motorsports will be kept alive in the stories and pictures we all share of the red, white and blue #43! 🙂 You raced and lived with the Heart of a Champion.
