Today, Heart of a Champion’s ‘Saturday Salute’ is a longtime Nova Scotia track owner and promoter, Jim Corbett! In the early 70s, Jim had the vision to build a half-mile paved oval, close to the city of Halifax. Not only did he build an amazing racing facility but he provided the foundation for the sport to catapult forward during the 70s! SO many great memories were witnesses by ten’s of thousands of race fans through the 70s from epic battles between Bobby Allen & Rollie MacDonald or Greg Sewart and his brother Jim, to Ken Carter Jumping over a dozen cars and the Paul Riddell Thrill Shows to John Chisholm landing his helicopter in the infield to make the Modified race that Saturday evening! Jim, your legacy will live on in all the memories you helped to create. We’ve included several pictures showing the size of the weekly crowds to some of the ‘stars of the day’ who muscled their cars around the 1/2 mile track! Jim Corbett, you had the Heart of a Champion. 🙂 Photo’s: HOAC Archive & contributors.
