Today, Heart of a Champions ‘Saturday Salute’ is South Eastern New Brunswick’s Bob Alcorn! Bob could easily be referred to as the ‘God Father of New Brunswick Snowmobiling or Mr. Arctic Cat’! 🙂 In the early 70s, Bob started selling and servicing snowmobiles out of his house garage, which later morphed into his recreation business in Riverview, NB! Bob was a founding member of the South Eastern NB Snowmobile Association and served as it’s first President. 🙂 Bob’s love of racing ‘stock sleds’ led him to many accolades including the 1984 Maritime Oval Racing Champion and the 1979 Buckingham Memorial award for Most Sportsmanlike competitor. 🙂 Bob was a true friend and builder of New Brunswick snowmobiling as he helped to purchase the clubs first Tucker Snow Cat groomer, in the mid-80s. For his many contributions, Bob was inducted into the Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2009. Bob’s love of snowmobiling was only second to his love of family and particularly his grandchildren. 🙂 Bob, your contributions to Maritime motorsports will never be forgotten. You had the Heart of a Champion. 🙂 Photos: MMHOF
